MAIL FOR UNDER A NICKEL A SIDE

The Mail System is Still a Great, Cost-Effective Way to Promote Your Business. Here's How to Maximize That Medium.

Mail for under a nickel a side?

No, this isn't another hair-brained scheme to cheat the post office. It's a simple reminder that mailing a first-class envelope with less than four full 8.5 X 11 pages inside is wasting your postage.

Not a day goes by that I don't receive one or more envelopes with a single sheet inside. And some aren't even printed on both sides. At a costly 33 cents per envelope, that's a real waste.

A normal #10 business-size envelope can hold four full 8.5 X 11 sheets of 20-pound bond paper, plus a little more, and remain at or under the one ounce weight limit. So by sending four pages plus up to one-third of an additional page, you'll be safely under that limit. Four pages gives you eight sides to print on. That's at least eight different offers you can present to your potential customers.

Mailing four pages, or eight sides, by first-class mail costs 33 cents or .04125 cents per side. I know of no other medium that allows you to place your information directly into the hands of a prospect for under a nickel. So if you have only a page or two of information to mail to people, get more before you mail.

By mailing the full volume of materials you can for the price, you'll benefit in three ways: First, you'll receive the full value of the postage you by. Second, with more offers, you increase the chances of getting an order. And third, you'll give your prospect a more interesting package to review.

So don't let your costs increase needlessly by mailing short. Use the money you're putting into your business wisely by mailing four sheets per envelope. Those extra sheets may even increase your profits, as well.
