ARE YOU REALLY READY TO START YOUR OWN HOME-BASED MAIL ORDER BUSINESS?

Are You Ready to Take the Home-Business Plunge? There Are Several Things You May Want to Consider.

By Gregory H. Bey

If you're thinking about starting a mail order or network marketing business, here are some things you might want to think about before you "take the plunge:"

BUILDING A SOLID FOUNDATION

If you're in business just for the money, you already have one strike against you. Most people enter the mail order marketing industry because they think they're going to make some quick cash. Needless to say, these people are soon disappointed when they don't see their mail boxes overflowing with orders within their first two or three weeks in business. If you think that you're going to get rich by starting a mail order or network marketing business with $500 to $1,500, you're only fooling yourself. FORGET IT! Making a profit in any business takes time. Prepare yourself for the long run.

GET THE TOOLS YOU NEED

If you were a carpenter and you didn't have the tools of the trade, you certainly wouldn't make any money. Make sure you have the tools you'll need before you get started. If you hired a carpenter to do a job and he or she came to work without any tools, what would you think?

If you're in mail order marketing and you don't have printed envelopes, labels or a letterhead, what kind of impression are you going to make on your potential customer? Image is very important, be sure that you make a good first impression. You won't get a second chance.

STAY ON TRACK

Do you know what type of business you want to operate? Do your homework. Be sure you know THE direction IN WHICH you want to go. Once you know what you want to do, keep your eye on the prize, don't give up. Being in business for yourself is tough and risky. Are you ready for the challenges that lay ahead? Can you endure failure, disappointments and setbacks and still keep striving towards your goals? Are you ready to go that extra mile, carry the extra load or make that extra sacrifice? Can you make difficult decisions and accept the blame when you make a mistake?

Succeeding in business isn't easy, however, if you prepare yourself properly in the beginning, you can come out the winner in the long run.

ARE YOU WILLING TO INVEST IN YOUR BUSINESS?

Are you willing to invest the time and money that it will take to make your business a success? Mail order and MLM beginners want to see their businesses succeed, however many are not willing to sacrifice the time and money needed to give the business a fair chance.

The vast majority of those who enter the mail order/MLM industry each year don't have enough money to invest in their business. This is one of the main reasons most people fail, they simply run out of money. I can hear you asking: "Well, how much money do I have to invest in my business?" There is no set answer to this question. However, what I'm trying to point out here is--no matter what kind of business you want to operate, you have to invest in the basic business tools that you'll need to at least give the appearance that you're operating a professional enterprise. If you neglect to do this you'll only diminish your chances of succeeding. Before you start a business, be sure that you can afford to make the investment of time and money that it will take in order to give yourself a fighting chance to succeed.
