SAVING MONEY IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS MAKING MONEY IN BUSINESS

New Entrepreneurs Often Rush to Spend Money on Useless Tools and Programs. And Without a Solid Plan to Also Save Money, Many of Them Are Doomed to Failure.

By G.H. Bey

I'm sure you've heard the old saying, "A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned." Saving money is a very important key to succeeding in business and you should apply it whenever possible.

One of the main reasons that people who start a mail order or network marketing business fail, is because they're led to believe that they are going to make a lot of money--In A Hurry. So the focus for most mail order/MLM beginners is on making quick profit.

Because most beginners don't understand the principle of saving money, they rush to spend their money on buying and promoting useless, worthless, unworkable, so called "wealth-building" plans and systems. Of course when most of these plans fail, they lose their small investment and are unable to continue operating their business.

It doesn't matter whether your business is large or small. If the principle of saving money is not employed, the chances of success are "slim" and "none."

Let's consider large corporations. Do they employ the principle of saving money? What do you think "down-sizing" is all about? These large corporations want to save money so they get rid of as many people as they can! This makes the stock holder happy, because they know when the cost of labor is cut to the bone, the price of their stocks will rise, and they will make more money. Of course this is not good for the American worker, but these large corporations must keep their stock holders happy. So they save money by cutting jobs. This is one of the main reasons people like you and I seek to start our own small or home-based business, because we have lost, or fear losing our job.

The above example is just to point out that all businesses, no matter how large or small must employ the principle of saving money in order to succeed. Now, I want to make it clear that if you're going to be in business you are going to have to spend money. The important thing is to spend your money wisely. You must have the proper tools in order to operate a professional enterprise.

If you operate a mail-order business, your letterheads, envelopes, labels, etc. must look professional. You can't expect people to purchase your products or services if you don't look like you're running a real, legitimate business.

There are many ways that you can save money without sacrificing the professionalism of your business. I know that many of you are starting a mail order business or MLM program on a shoe string budget, so be very careful what you spend your money on. Always look for the best deals on the things that you need for your business. This doesn't necessarily mean always looking for the lowest price. The lowest price may not always be the best deal. For example, let's say you need to get an ad typeset. One dealer will typeset your one-inch ad for $2 and send you ten copies of your ad. Another dealer will typeset your one-inch ad for $7 and send you thirty copies and place your ad in an ad sheet with 1,000 circulation. You can judge for yourself which is the better deal.

When buying supplies for your business, make a list of everything you think you'll need. Go over your list carefully and eliminate those things you don't need right away. Watch out for overkill, never buy more than you need. Scour the mail-order publications for special offers and take advantage of the ones that offer the most for your money. Get into the habit of reading the articles in mail order publications. Many times you will find information on very good special deals for business-related products and services.

If you have a computer and are online, visit mail order and business-related web sites. This is an excellent way to find special money-saving offers. It's very important that you learn and apply the principle of saving money in your business. Without it, your chances of success are severely limited.
