Every state in the U.S. has its own special features. I've lived in several of our 50 states, and I've enjoyed my stay in each one. But it's a fact: Some states produce far greater responses to Mail Order ads than other states.
I've advertised all over this nation, in national and local publications, and in monthlies, weeklies and dailies. I've received lots of responses for all over, but when I list all the orders I've received BY STATE, there are just 17 states that are responsible for most of my orders.
In fact, 75 percent of all my sales came from people in just 17 states. I've placed tons of ads, but the other 34 states have NEVER produced the kinds of results that I've received from the 17 Most Responsive States.
Out of a recent 1,000 orders, 750 orders came in from those 17 order-producing states. The other 250 orders came from the other 34 states. And I have the records to prove it.
I also know from one other source who has a list of "20 Golden States." And that source has received 75 percent of its business from those 20 states. Our lists agree on these 17 states:
ArizonaCalifornia
Florida
Georgia
Maryland
Illinois
Massachusetts
Missouri
New Jersey
New York
Ohio
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Tennessee
Texas
Virginia
Washington
It might be that those states contain the largest concentration of people. Maybe most of the available money is being handled in those areas. Or maybe the people in those areas are the most educated or the most informed, or the ones most familiar with ordering items through the mail. (The other three states on my friend's list are: Minnesota, North Carolina, and West Virginia).
The reasons matter little, for these are the Most Responsive states, at least for ordering things by mail. So maybe you need to concentrate your efforts in those areas that contain the most mail order buyers.
Why waste your time and money advertising in areas that show a much poorer response? Why send your mailings to people in states other than the most responsive 17 (or 20). Advertise in, and send mailings to people in those states. The response will be better--it's a proven fact.
