TURNING YOUR FAVORITE PASTIME INTO A PROFITABLE BUSINESS
Most Everyone Would Like to Work at Something They Love to Do. Here's How to Turn Those Personal Passions into Money-Making Opportunities. By Gary Christensen
What do you enjoy doing the most, when there's nothing that you HAVE to do? Do you have a favorite pastime or hobby? Maybe THAT's what you should try to turn into a money-making enterprise.
1. Reading for Others--Some people really enjoy reading and they usually read everything they can get their hands on. So read for others and charge them a fee to read for them. You do the reading and give them a summary of the reading you do. Many people just don't have the time or energy to read all that they're required to read. Maybe you could provide a short synopsis of each days news. Set a fee and send a bill for your services with each report you submit.
2. Shopping for Others--My wife LOVES to shop but, I can't stand it. If you enjoy shopping, offer your shopping services to others. If someone can't get out to shop, doesn't know which stores have sales, etc., perhaps YOU can do the shopping and charge a fee for your services.
3. Driving for Others--Lots of people HATE to drive. Others are no longer able to drive. So, offer your services as a driver, to take people to appointments, or to drive them to the places they need to go. My Dad is still active at 83 and he drives other seniors to the places they need to go, because they're no longer able to drive or no longer own a car. If you enjoy driving, offer your ability and charge clients for each trip.
4. Talking To, and For, Others--If you enjoy chatting with others, turn that favorite pastime into a money-making business. You might do well at phone sales or with a Network Marketing Company. Maybe someone needs to have books read to them. Get paid an hourly fee for all the talking you do.
5. Writing for Others--If you are blessed with a "way with words," offer your writing abilities to others by composing ads and flyers, writing articles or even News Releases for other people. Writing is becoming a lost art, but if you enjoy it, offer your services as a letter writer, report writer, article writer, ghost writer, proposal writer, etc. Get paid for every word you write.
6. Mailing for Others--Many individuals and even some companies NEED the services of professional mailers. I've been mailing Articles and News Releases for other writers for more than five years. Each writer sends me his or her latest article or News Release with their usual mailing fee and I make copies and fill about 90 Paks each month and send them to Publishers on the first of each month. The fees from each writer helps to pay for all the copies and the postage to mail each Pak.
Writers like this service, as they no longer have to put together their own monthly Pak of articles and mail them to their own list of publishers. The publishers on my list like this service, since they no longer have to wonder when or if any new articles will come in, because a new Pak of articles arrives on the first of each month.
Look at what you do and what you ENJOY doing the most. Try to think of ways in which YOU can offer YOUR services to others and then, every day that you "enjoy your favorite pastime," you'll be making money at it.
