A GOLD MINE OF JUNK MAIL
What Can Junk Mail Do For You? Try Creating a List of Viable Prospects for Your Own Business.

More and more, we hear consumer complaints about "junk mail." But such mail doesn't have to be "junk." Now is a good time to turn your junk mail into a little gold mine.

If you're like me, you get dozens of offers in the mail every week and most of these end up in the garbage can. But the fact is, many of these junk mail offers may be excellent prospects.

Think about it. Using these mailers as prospects makes sense for a variety of reasons.

• Motivation--People who send you their offers are for the the most part highly motivated and they're workers.

• No Cost--The junk mail names/addresses you get are FREE. As you know, mailing lists can be expensive. But this one doesn't cost you a dime. It just keeps coming to you in the mail with no cost or effort on your part.

Combine this free mailing list with your regular list and you're got a dynamite combination.

• Experience--Folks who mail you their offers are already in the mail-order business and have at least some experience. When they see your offer, they're likely to take notice.

• Stability--You will very rarely get an undeliverable address since the mailer is actively promoting something. This is a big plus for you.

So how do you turn these junk mail offers into an active mailing list? Here's what I do:

1. Every day I make a small stack of all my junk mail offers.

2. With a pair of scissors, I simply clip out the return address and drop the rest in my trash can (I don't have the time or desire to painstakingly read all the offers).

3. With clear tape, I tape the return addresses to my envelopes. There is no need to take the time to either hand write or type the name/address on the envelope.

But I do this for a second reason. When a prospect sees their own original name and address attached to an envelope, their curiosity is at its peak.

Can you possibly imagine a prospect not diving into your envelope when they see a part of their own mailing piece mailed back to them? This is an irresistible combination. Take advantage of it.

4. I put my offer in the envelope and away it goes.

This works for me and it can work for you, too. Start today and you're on your way. Remember, even if your junk mail seems to be increasing, that's just fine. The more the better!

Think about it--it's like turning your garbage into gold. Yes, your own little gold mine.
